Kelkoo Group was a hugely successful comparison-shopping service that was taken to a cliff edge by Google’s self-preferencing behaviour. We have been lobbying for fundamental change and fairness in global digital markets since 2011 and are one of the lead complainants in the Google Shopping case in Europe. We are in regular dialogue with global regulators who are keen to restore fair and contestable digital markets.

On 12 November 2020, Kelkoo Group, alongside 134 companies and 30 industry associations, as representatives of a diverse community of online services, operating across Europe, sent an open letter to Executive Vice President Vestager on Google Shopping decision. In it we collectively called upon the Commission to enforce its 2017 abuse of dominance decision by finally putting an end to Google’s continuing practice of favouring its own specialised search services within general search results pages.

In September 2020, Hausfeld published a study by Prof. Dr. Thomas Höppner, which addressed the remedies imposed in the European Commission’s Google Search antitrust decision of 2017. This study assesses whether the measures taken by Google since the Decision conform with the obligations imposed by the Commission. The study is based upon empirical data (for example, data covering consumer traffic, conversions, revenues and customer reactions) provided by 25 European comparison shopping services operating in 21 European markets, including the market leaders in 7 of the 13 commercially most relevant countries – Germany, Poland, Czech Republic, Hungary, Italy, France and Slovakia.
